The story of Perinatal Professionals

And the advisory board and expert panel keeping our standards high

turning struggles into solutions

Have you ever felt stuck working in a system...

We all love being doulas and perinatal educators, and we also loved being doula/educator trainers. Helping new birthworkers begin their journey in one of the most rewarding, and very needed, careers is just as meaningful as serving our own clients. With well over 100 years of combined experience, we worked in a system that had its flaws but it is what it is and we stayed because it was the standard in the system and it was adequate. That is, until the day the system inspired the solution.

The decades of minor frustrations about awkward client evaluations and busy-work steps for the certifications that our students were losing interest in, and increasing fees with decreasing benefits, all prompted us to work together to disrupt the standard. Instead of staying stuck, and staying quiet, about practices and changes that weren’t meeting the needs of the students we trained, we used the feedback of hundreds of birthworkers from the last several years to create an experience we could be proud of. Meet your Perinatal Professionals team…

it started with a question

And a vision was born

Can doula and educator certification be more meaningful, more cost effective, and more…
…fun?

Founder

Jade Holmes, Utah

I’m a serial entrepreneur, a chronic DIYer, mother of five kids ranging from 9-23, typical Virgo, I love Bon Jovi, Corvettes, flowers, and cream puffs. I’m good at organizing, decorating, and designing really cool spaces (like a secret Lego room behind a bookshelf and the coolest game room with a real Skee-Ball machine!)  I’m a little sassy for my own good, willing to somewhat humiliate myself to make someone laugh, and absolutely nothing fills my cup more than serving other women in a way that changes families for generations into the future.

I’ve been a birth, bereavement, and postpartum doula, and childbirth and new parent educator, for over 10 years, a doula trainer for 7 years, and a licensed massage therapist for 5 years. I am an education junkie and have taken way more trainings than I can count. I love helping my doula students with the business side as much as the actual birth work, and offer mentoring, website audits, business organization, and more. I can’t wait to serve you!

Hey, I’m Laura! I’ve been in the perinatal world since 2001 and work privately with clients in the foothills of NC. I’m a Certified Professional Postpartum Doula, New Parent Educator, Lactation Educator, Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Pregnancy Fitness Educator, with additional certifications from NASM (National Association of Sport Fitness) and Pelvienne Wellness as a physical and corrective exercise specialist specializing in core and pelvic floor health during the perinatal period.

With over a decade of experience, I have passionately supported hundreds of mothers, partners, and families through their childbirth journeys since 2010. My expertise extends beyond doula services. I am a state-licensed educator and a frequent speaker for mothers, families, and healthcare providers. My engaging and interactive training sessions are highly valued by the community. I also combine my love for teaching with my commitment to supporting new parents as a birth and postpartum doula trainer.

My work has been recognized in various media outlets, including Parents Magazine and local television stations. I am known for my compassionate approach and my dedication to empowering families during one of the most significant times in their lives.

My passion for understanding the labor, birth and postpartum process brings knowledge, as well as compassion, to clients and students. I enjoy working with families, students, colleagues, and the medical staff at local facilities by sharing evidence-based information so they feel confident in their choices.

I have been offering certified birth doula trainings, birth and postpartum doula support, and educational classes to families and professionals for over 20 years in Southern California.

In 2017 I chose to align myself with a local hospital as part of their leadership team.  My efforts are spent building bridges in the community and with the hospital to increase their patient satisfaction, decrease their c-section rates, and implement new programs that benefit the patient and care providers. We have successfully maintained a c-section rate below industry standards and requirements of CMQCC for over 7 years, increased delivery rates, and implemented a doula and midwifery program.
